The UK’s capability in Mental Health: Transforming Mental Health care for all
Mental health care in the UK prioritises service delivery in a person-centred, compassionate and supportive way, promoting safety and wellbeing at the forefront.
Mental Health Provision
The UK’s Mental health provision is leading the way by pioneering a needs-led, outcome-focused, and responsive approach delivered in a way that empowers people to build on their strengths, promotes recovery, supports families and carers, and ensures equality and fairness for all. This runs across primary care and hospital and specialist provision.
The UK has a strong record of addressing Mental Health issues within the adult community. Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) is a landmark public health programme in England’s National Health Services (NHS) that began in 2008 and transformed the treatment of adult anxiety disorders and depression in England. IAPT is widely-recognised as the most ambitious programme of talking therapies in the world with over 50% recovery rate. Every year, over a million people access IAPT services for help to overcome their depression and anxiety, and better manage their mental health. It is inspiring similar low intensity mental health models around the world.

Strategic planning & policy development
Strategic planning and policy development is integral to the NHS to guide and inform the development of care delivery and to drive clinical outcomes.
Digital CBT to help children with anxiety
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has released draft guidance recommending the conditional use of 5 cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) technologies while further evidence is generated.

Capital design & build
The UK’s creativity is behind the design of some of the world’s most innovative hospital buildings and is a world leader in the design of sustainable, energy-efficient, and low-carbon buildings.
State of the art mental health facilities
Mersey Care has played a national lead in developing state of the art mental health facilities, deliver integrated care which is more preventative and less crisis-focused, whilst delivering clinical excellence. In addition to modern and efficient design, it includes therapeutic environments, efficient facilities, healthy lifestyle inside and outdoors, stimulation and cultural heritage.
Medical Technology & innovation
Innovation in healthcare leads to better patient care, improved population health, and lower healthcare costs, by providing new and better treatment options, making it easier for patients to access care, and improving care coordination.
